Her and Earth was founded by Alicia and Olivia Hepworth, sisters and best friends on a mission to change the way we consume and who we support in the process. The concept was born from a joint belief that we should be living in harmony with the earth, not fighting against it.
With backgrounds in human rights and advertising, Alicia and Olivia brought their experience together to create the sustainable, ethical, Her and Earth. Strong advocates for women’s rights, we’re women working for a better world.
At Her and Earth, we understand certain products will always be a part of our daily lives. From the things we need to the things we want; these goodies will forever have a place in the cupboard. However, not all products are made equal. We want everyday items to have minimal impact on the earth. From material sourcing to end-of-life recycling options, choosing products with an ethical history and a sustainable future helps us leave no trace. That’s where we come in. As a curated marketplace, we’ve hand selected the best do-good products, certified their backstory, and brought them all together under one roof. No more countless hours spent searching for sustainable soap brands or eyeing up their small print. Every Her and Earth item is a value-based, ethical, and minimal-harm product. We’re a one-stop shop for the consciously minded and creatively curious. Importantly, we not only curate and market these ethical products, but we spotlight leaders, innovators, and those like us who are out to do better.
Promoting products and causes. Each week Her and Earth Spotlighting celebrates our
sellers’ stories and the amazing work they do. We advocate issues we fundamentally believe
in, pushing values, missions, and visions from women around the world. We’re a sisterhood.
Our Spotlighting feature sends your message further. Whether you’re activists working for
gender equality, campaigners fighting for environmental initiatives, or influencers rallying
for animal rights, we’re voting for you, for us; the move-makers, the change-seekers, the
ones who won’t settle for less.
We endorse intersectionality and hope that individuals of all genders, socio-economic backgrounds, ages, and ethnoracial identities feel that Her and Earth is not only a safe place to visit and shop but choose it as their preferred platform.
Our focus is on levelling the playing field, for all players. We believe in advocating and protecting women’s rights, participating in campaigns raising awareness of the issues that disproportionately affect women across the globe. This goes beyond words. Our primary product lines are focused on helping women; those making the products and those using them. From alleviating period poverty to promoting emotional health, closing the gender pay gap to educating on general wellbeing, we’re striving for a fairer world. We recognise the financial disadvantages that disproportionately affect women and actively support female-run businesses. By purchasing our products, you’re helping us help women everywhere.
We focus on eco-conscious companies using plastic-free packaging and chemical-free products (particularly those that harm us and the environment).
We invest in those choosing sustainable consumerism, creating recycled, recyclable, zero-waste, energy-conscious, and by-product items.
We live in a world of buy, use, dispose. Her and Earth promote buying better, buying less,
reducing environmental impact, and leaving no trace.
At Her and Earth, we strongly believe that we are all sentient beings, so why treat humans and animals differently?
We will not support suppliers who have tested their products on animals or caused any harm to animals in the manufacturing process.
Our goal is that all things sold through Her and Earth are vegan.
Fair Supply Chain
Rather than relying on stamps or labels, we assess all of our suppliers to ensure they are being ‘fair’. We only sell products at fair trade price, never taking high percentages from our partners, guaranteeing they’re paid promptly so they can pay their staff the fair wage they deserve.
We recognise the financial disadvantages that small producers face, particularly
those run by women. Her and Earth encourage all partners to exercise full discretion when
determining their prices.
We have full faith in our processes and take the utmost care to ensure our people and their products match our values and mission.
However, we understand things may slip through
the net. To ensure we’re constantly striving for better, we will produce a quarterly transparency report analysing and sharing our progress and partner list. If anything looks out of place, please let us know. How do we work? Her and Earth don’t keep stock. We collate orders as and when they arrive, communicating them straight to the seller. This way, there’s no waste, no surplus, and everyone gets maximum return from each and every product.
Let’s chat. If you would like to join us as a maker, creator, or company owner of ethical products, please get in touch. We’d love to hear your story. We provide ongoing support,
exposure, and product promotion to each of our sellers through the Spotlighting feature, press releases, and social media coverage.
